Next Sunday’s Parishioner Meeting about Revised Mass Schedule:
Please participate in a parishioner meeting about a revised weekend Mass schedule for St. James the Apostle, Holy Cross, and St. Francis Solanus. Bishop Matano gave his blessing to our local development of a weekend schedule with one Mass each at Holy Cross and St. Francis Solanus and two at St. James the Apostle.
The planning team has worked through many different scenarios and now has two options to present to parishioners for input. Last weekend’s bulletin contained an insert including the two possible schedules, the principles the planning team agreed on, and the needs/wants of each community that had to be weighed. It is also available on the parish website at http://www.stjamestburg.com/parish-merge/.
The planning team is holding parishioner meetings on Sunday, April 10, after each of the Sunday Masses. Please plan to stay for a short while after whichever Mass you attend. Although the Saturday evening Mass will not change, parishioners who regularly attend it are encouraged to come to one of the Sunday meetings. The planning team will be asking for your feedback on the two proposed Mass schedules.

Easter Egg Hunt:
Thanks to all the children who participated in the Easter egg hunt on Easter Sunday after the 10:30 Mass. A special thank you to Life’s So Sweet Chocolates, who helped the Easter Bunny deliver the eggs to St. James.

Extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy:2015 Year of Mercy logo
The origin of the Christian Jubilee goes back to Old Testament times. The Law of Moses prescribed a special year for the Jewish people to make restitution for wrongs committed, to forgive debts owed, and set slaves free. In the Roman Catholic tradition, a Holy Year or Jubilee is a great religious event, for the forgiveness of sins and the punishment due to sin. A Jubilee is a year of reconciliation between adversaries. It is a time of solidarity, hope, justice and commitment to serve God with joy and in peace with our brothers and sisters. The guiding principle of  the year: “Be merciful just as your Father is merciful.
